Waaa!! It's July already!! Many good things happened this year! My song 'Cincin' got selected to the RTM Sabah finals, I got to be a TV host for RTM, Obie joined us at Krew Pagi KKFM and of course our baby Adelise was born! This year saya ada macam rehat sikit from music and entertainment. Ada pun sikit-sikit, I recorded "Hilang", a song written and composed by Reuben Raymond for ULU KUKUT telemovie by Richardo Tawith. Kalau stage performance tu macam biasalah nyanyi for corporate dinner shows and weddings. Selain menyanyi saya juga jadi pengacara majlis ^_^

Last June kami pergi KL. I went there to sing for a wedding. My friend's wedding, nama dia Azhar Bux, rupanya her mother in-law orang Keningau. Alang-alang di KL, sempat juga record my vocals for Infinatez new song. Nantilah kamu dengar okay.

Btw it's a fun life now, sudah jadi suami orang and sudah jadi bapa orang. Jadi marilah saya kenalkan kamu to my wife and daughter.

Saya dapat rasakan yang 3 bulan terakhir 2010 ini akan menjadi tempoh masa yang sibuk dan produktif. Ini kerana saya sendiri yang mahu ianya sedemikian. Tambahan pula sekarang sudah bergelar suami dan insyaAllah tidak lama lagi akan menjadi seorang bapa. Matlamatnya adalah supaya setiap perkara yang dibuat itu bukanlah sia-sia, dan sebaiknya ada hikmah atau faedah tidak kira secara langsung ataupun tidak. Bila minda bercelaru, bila terasa ragu, yang penting tahu hendak bersujud kepada Allah. Dan sepatutnya, ingatan kepadaNya itu adalah sentiasa, setiap masa.

Learning Life

I used to be a very active blogger. I used to have so many things to talk about. Or maybe I used to have so many masa lapang? ^_^

Anyway I just released my solo EP, titled "Learning You" and to be frank I haven't really promoted it. I got to be honest that it's more difficult if you need to think all by yourself, it's all you doing the music, the marketing and many other things. But the thing that I like the most about what I'm doing now is I get to do my music without pressure. I got the privilege to be honest, to be myself. I don't really need to be hypocrite. When I write a song, it is when I have something to say. If I do something new or different, it is because I want to do so, I want to explore more.

When I was back in KL, sometimes we artistes will go on tour, perform at different places. Wearing sunglasses, trying to look like a celebrity, act like a celebrity, acting like we are the "IN" thing at that moment. Most of the time I don't see 'art' in the artistes. But tulah, masing-masing dengan cara, tujuan dan perjuangan sendiri. I have no right to judge anyone.

So why am I doing what I'm doing now? Why am I writing songs, why am I performing? I think one of the reason is I am challenging myself, I'm proving myself to do what I dream. I'm learning life, I keep telling myself that. How is life suppose to be? Am I suppose to do that or do this. I keep thinking and thinking. You might want to tell me how to live our life, you might want to give me your 2 cents, your ideas, but then...think again.

It's hot and I don't know how to start but I really feel that I need to write something now.

Jumaat lepas I went to Pusakag in Penampang to watch KENTE 2, it's a singing/entertaining competition organized by Kadusmusic Entertainment (KE). KENTE stands for KE Next Top Entertainer, so my guess is they are looking for an entertainer who can sing, or vice versa. I fully support their effort to promote our local music and culture.

Now what I'm more interested to talk about is actually about the contestants. Owh btw there is also another singing competition di Hunter @ Kinabalu Daya Hotel. We just love singing don't we?

This KENTE competition ada beberapa pusingan saringan, if not mistaken I think there are about 5 to 6 heats before the finale 16 April 2010. There one I went was heat 2. Ada 10 orang peserta and 2 will be chosen untuk terus ke final, 2 lagi akan dipilih oleh juri dan penonton untuk 1 more time bertanding dalam pusingan wild card. So 2 orang yang berjaya for that night was Bryan and Rudy. These 2 guys was in my fav list after watching their performances, the other contestants pun bagus2 juga, but ya ada juga yang kurang bagus. There was this 1 girl who didn't finish her 2nd song, ada glitches during her singing, nda sampai note terus dia berlari turun stage. That was sad but yalah, I tried to understand her situation juga. Maybe jarang or nda pernah menyanyi depan orang ramai, kurang or terlebih latihan, pressure jadi 1st performer, but I wish you all the best for next time girl.

Format KENTE is for the heats, the contestants will need to sing 2 songs. 1 song in kadazandusun language and the other could be in english or malay. This format juga digunapakai untuk final nanti. So macam ni la, after watching the whole show saya terperasan yang kebanyakan if not all the contestants lebih kasi tunjuk their taring time nyanyi lagu in malay or english. Orang bilang time dorang nyanyi those songs kira macam tu-lagu-makanan-dorang-la something like that. But still, ada juga contestants yang dua2 lagu pun bukan makanan dorang, sila pilih lagu lain la maksudnya hehe ^_^

So persoalannya is why is it like that? Saya ndala buat kajian terperinci but saya akan ambil contoh si Bryan and Rudy. Now saya macam lupa2 sudah apa lagu kadazandusun yang dorang nyanyi that day but I remembered Bryan nyanyi lagu Anuar Zain and Rudy sang an Air Supply number. They sang the kadus songs well but they really showed their skills time nyanyi their 2nd songs. So antara kesimpulan spontan saya pada malam itu adalah:

Dorang sudah terlampau biasa nyanyi the chosen non-kadus songs
Their chosen non-kadus songs punya genre memang dorang minat
Melodi lagu kadus yang dorang pilih tidak menunjukkan skil dorang atau dorang sendiri yang tidak terkasi tunjuk skil
Genre lagu kadus yang dorang pilih bukan genre yang dorang betul2 minat atau dalami

So yang di atas tu hanyalah sikit2 saja andaian saya pada masa itu. Tidak semestinya betul juga, but maybe juga ada betul dia kan ^_^

Well if I am to write about this I got lots to write about. But untuk dia jadi nda terlampau panjang, I think we the sabahan songwriters should start exploring and be more openminded when composing a kadus song. I heard people keep saying yang our people suka irama yang aramaiti punya saja, but at the same time I got aunties yang dengar all these urban music. Even youths yang kita ingat dengar lagu2 melayu mendayu pun rupanya hafal lagu Alicia Keys. I am not suggesting la actually di sini, I'm just giving opinions manatau ada orang baca and terbuka fikiran ka kan? Also to the artistes and performers, this is something to think about for both you and me - how do we make ourself interesting in our song and on stage, how do we make people interested to listen and watch us on stage (or mana2 lah).

After writing all the above, this is why KE's effort and role is important. To organize such event, it requires a lot of passion and motivation. This is why we need to write more kadus songs yang berkualiti. We have a small industry here in Sabah, but at least we have one.

I've been talking about my upcoming EP macam selalu kan? Kalau ikut planning it is supposed to be out anytime now, but anyhow I think it should be out by this month. Crossingfingers~

Now after a few years of singing, writing songs and performing, finally, and just very recently, I started my grade 1 music theory lesson. It's just the natural and right thing to do if I am really serious in this music business. Lately I've been working with musicians yang of course read music, so that's one of the reason why I learn music, untuk senang communicate with them. Also to understand more the theory of music, so the practical becomes easier.

Now I can't wait to be able to play the piano, and hehehe...other musical instruments.

The gig at Shenanigans last Sunday really made me realize more that I do love to perform. To have the opportunity to sing in front of live audience and get immediate feedback, that's just so awesome. The feeling of it. Banyak yang I learned, and I know banyak lagi to be learned. If I am to perform with a live band I now realize that I want the musicians to also enjoy the song and the performance. I'm still learning, I'm still new.

I also like to see my performer friends doing their things as well, Da Prinz really impressed me with their performance that day, each of them are good (if not great) with their vocals, and their harmonizing had improved. Oh well banyak lagi projek yang want to do ni nanti.

Improve Day by Day

I am now in Ranau and I missed dance class last night. Yes folks, I learn ballroom dance at Imperial Ballroom Dance School (in Foh Sang) every Wednesday nights since a few months ago. I even participated in the 9th Sabah Open last December as a beginner with my partner. I thought by joining this class will make me a better performer. Up to now, I know how to do the Cha-cha, Rumba, Samba and Jive. Well as a performer its good to be physically flexible.

I also have plan to take keyboard or piano lesson anytime soon. I can moderately play the guitar, but I guess it will also be cool to be able to sing and play the piano at the same time -> while performing. By improving myself, I see possibilities to maximise what I really love to do. I know that I always dream and imagine, so I better do something about it.

Having said that, my new songs from Learning You EP will be available for release very very soon. And if I do have a resolution for 2010, it is to do and record as many songs as I can, to just kasi keluar all the things - creativity, sounds, words and ideas out of my head.

I can hardly wait to start writing new songs, go to the studio to make the music arrangements, record the vocals tracks. Everything about it is so intriguing. What even makes me happier is the fact that I get to work with other people during the whole process. Damn it makes me feel like a real artist!! Well, sort of. ^_^

Ah I wanted to write and share more about this excitement I'm feeling now, but I need to go to Bundusan. I'll be recording my vocals for the last song that will be included in my debut EP. Catch up with you guys soon!!

I'M BACK!

Wooo...

Rupanya I haven't been blogging since last year ^_^ Bukan apa, semenjak ada FB ni, selalu update status sampai I don't know what to write in my blog. Then ada "[via Celcom SMS]" lagi making me more detached from this blog.

Well I don't want to completely detach with my blog, it is still a good platform to express and say about things - if you do have something to say that is.

Tommorow I'll be recording the vocals for my original song called "Sing a Song". It will be in my solo Learning You EP. The song will be released alongside another original song of mine as what the so-called-SOCIETY/CULTURE may call a single. So by January which is anytime now, I will reveal 2 of my new songs from the EP. Of course I will send them to radio stations, online radios etc. I'll probably be in KL in Feb to perform with Infinatez in an R&B gig so that is when I'll send my songs to the radios there. So watch out guys, anytime THIS MONTH!!

It has been approximately 7 months since I first based in KK, after 10 years in KL. In my first 3 months when people asked me if I'm here for good, I will say, "Mungkin lah ni."

Now without hesitation I can say that I am now based in KK. Still doing music, but I'm now doing it in KK. I got a lot of expectations and I believe I can do it here. Also because I feel the need to be near with my family.

So to my peeps in Sabah, I just wanna say, "I'M BACK!"

Recording in KK, Performing in KL

My new song (which is a wedding song) is in progress and almost complete. The 1st version is in malay language. Above is Peter Poninting which is my friend and also my sound engineer. He did the music arrangement for my studio versions of "Learning You" and "Raya di Kinabalu". Will be working with him on more songs later on. I'll also be working with other talented musicians and producers soon, mostly from Sabah ^_^ Owh I said the new song is in malay language coz it will also be made in english, kadazandusun etc and it will hav an acoustic version and whatever things that I can imagine.

I arrived at LCCT last friday night (9oct). Most probably will be in KL till 21oct. I'll be performing at the MSM annual dinner this 17oct. Good news is I'll be performing with a live band and they are all my good buddies - Kay, Geaff, Leo and the gang!! You can expect songs like "No One Else Comes Close" and "Learning You" (this song will be quite diff from the recorded version - electric guitar feel) ^_^ Can't wait to perform!!

This is my buddy Medrian. I'm staying with him while I'm in KL. We were classmates, best friends and stayed at the same neighbourhood in Ranau since zaman dulu2 ^_^. You can meet him at Sg Wang's Bata shop ground floor (the shop is called "Famous Brand)" as he is the shop manager there. I've went to his store and I'm preety sure I'll be getting (buying) a couple of pairs there. Didn't bought any last friday night coz he was already closing the shop.

Lama sudah x makan ni bun since 4 months ago sy d KK. After supper last friday night we went to 7Eleven where I found this, lantas apalagi terus beli. It is not the best bun in the world but for the sake of lama x rasa sy pun beli. Mmg selalu beli ni dulu2 ^_^

I'll most probably be playing 3 songs which 2 will be my own compositions. It's gonna be just me and the guitar for 1 song, then for the other 2 songs Mark Paul Baklin will be helping me out on the keys so I could focus more on my singing (and memorizing lyrics ^_^). So see you there ya!!

Alvin MY - Album Update #1

I am now updating you guys about the journey of my first baby. It is clearly not a 1 night stand, heee ^_^. It will take some time for this one. So I've already released my 1st single "Learning You" and I'm very thankful that DJ Othoe is playing it daily since it's 1st debut @ Suria Pagi Kinabalu. Othoe you're da man!! I would also like to thank you the DJ's at sabahan.fm the online radio for also playing this song. A special thanx to Markie Kadus!! Actually the song is also available to listen at my myspace site and my amp channelv site. I can also see dbos-fm and budiey.com publishing my press release at their respective blogs which is really an honor to me. I couldn't have made it this far if it wasn't for the love and support from all my friends and family. I made it available to stream for free simply because I want to share it with you. I wrote, composed and produced the song by myself with the help from my friend aka sound engineer Peter Poninting of DEQ Studio.

So what will be my next move? I'm in the midst of recording my 2nd song, and will be released during this raya season, yeah it is a raya song. It was initially for an RTM programme, but I guess due to logistic problems they decided not to do the programme. So it's okay I'll just work on it. The sound of this raya song according to Peter is a bit jazzy and ada broadway-ish sound. The funny thing is I got the idea for the sound of this song when my kazen Azward was playing a tune by Lily Allen called "f**k y**" on youtube. So I'm not sure if my song ni direstui hahaha!! But despite the title I was actually attracted with the sound of the song so I applied it to my raya song. This song is among lagu yg paling cepat sy siapkan. I got the melody and lyrics straight away in 1 go. It was a friday around 10am. Then petang tu I went to the studio and told Peter how I visualize the song to be. Dengan sepantas kilat we did the full demo of the song, and now I think we just need 1 studio session or 2 the most to complete the recording side. Lagu raya usually hanya akan dipasang lebih kurang 1-2 weeks before raya so I'm crossing my fingers that I'll be able to finish it before that time and zoom send to radios and make it available online. Lagu raya biasa orang hantar awal but still better late sikit than never. In this song you'll get to listen to the "loosen" me. The lyrics are easy and my vocals will also be relaxed gitu. You guys just wait la ya, I've let few of my friends and family listen to it though ^_^ Klu ada rezeki and kesempatan I'll be recording the (probably DIY) video clip for this song time raya ke 3 d Kundasang nnt during our annual Suhaimin Bandaran's open house. So you might be in the video my friends hehe.

The official cover for my single "Learning You" will also be revealed soon and I'll start sending the song to other radio stations as well. As we know the Malaysian market demands malay songs, but in my album there will be malay and kadazandusun songs. Infact the raya song is in malay (campur sabahan slang siiikit la). To fully optimize Learning You, we might have an official video clip for it so if you know someone or maybe yourself, that you think can be the girl in my video do let me know by sending me a message at my Facebook wall. I'm Alvin Mahathir Yunus in FB. There might be an audition but we'll reserve that for later.

Minggu ni I'll be recording another song tapi this time it is not a lovey dovey song. It is still a ballad but the message is about life. I hope it will have some good effect on you as well.

This album is about love and life and it is dedicated to all of you. It is not finished yet but I'm visualizing it right now. I hope you are as excited as I am about this album as I am going to offer something different from what my fellow sabahan musician/artistes friends has showed you.

We all love him, but God loves him more. I hope all of you will be strong, I can only imagine the sorrowness that you're experiencing now, but I know the feeling of losing someone really close to you. Dear Calvin Kabinchong, may your soul rest in peace. He was 19 when he left us for a better place. You certainly will always remain in our heart.

August Focus

Kira awal pagi la sy update blog ni kan. Just came back from jogging tadi. After almost 2 months with no real exercise, and I'm starting to see the effect on my stamina. I'll be in the studio till end of this year so I need to make sure I'm fit enough to record. Today I'm going to Keningau, Atama's friend is getting married so I might sing a song or two.

Puasa is coming this month and for me personally this month I will work harder. We are planning for a recording and jamming studio. BBKK will be stuffed in KK with new products and designs. I'll also be singing in a few gigs here in KK and I was invited to be part of a Musical Drama. I also hope to record 2 more new songs this month for my album. Life in KK is good ^_^ but I do miss my buddies there in KL. To all my friends, lets all work hard and work smart. BBKK!!

Skg sy tidak selalu sudah d restoran. If before ni mmg from pagi till late nite but since staff pun boleh dianggap mencukupi (walaupun sumtimes mcm tidak brapa juga disebabkan jumlah pelanggan yg tidak menentu), sy hanya dtg pada masa2 tertentu. It's good juga so now I can do other things such as recording my debut solo album which I'm expecting it to be released this fall (ATUKOI!!! Minta puji/mengada kunun ada fall2, like I know when it is!!), hahaha!! But yeah I'm planning to release it by end of this year. By nextweek 2 songs will be done and ready to be released to radios, online etc. So these 2 songs kira mcm intro la, to let people know yg I'm doing something. Attention!! I'm not quitting Infinatez.

So the plan is to have a total of 8-10 songs in my album. I can actually just do an EP of 5 songs tp x best plak if sikit jak lagu. Klu time driving mo dgr banyak lagu baru puas hati. I'll also have more songs to perform. In this album akan ada soul ballad songs, upbeat songs, acoustic, a bit of jazzy folk sound, a capella and pop. Looks like there'll be more english songs in it with perhaps a kadazandusun song and a couple of malay songs. It might change but agak2 akan jadi mcm tu lah.

Setakat ini, the songs I'll be recording are all my own compositions. If you have a song you want me to sing or co-write just let me know asap, I'll be happy to get new and fresh ideas from others. There will certainly be songs yg featuring or duet with other artist as well.

I'm starting the promo slowly now, oh ya mo ada photoshoot lagi ni pula kan. That will be very2 soon, to all my friends yg photographer tu, paham2 la kan? ^_^

If all turns well, I'm gonna play at "My Story" end of August in KK. It's kinda like a singer-songwriter thingy organized by Jonathan Tse, so I guess it will be fun. I'll update more on that later, you can also get info of it in bandwidth magazine.

Hello again my friends, setelah lama sy x update blog kan so ni kali antara my entries sy kasi dekat2 sikit la semenjak suda ada broadband ni, and since now I'm at my HOME SWEET HOME di Ranau yg juga ada streamyx ^_^

Bercakap pasal HOME, my 2nd song that I'm planning to record nextweek has something to do with it. It is a song yg I want everyone to enjoy it, kepada our Sabahan friends yg jauh d perantauan, ni lagu sy dedicate utk kamu time kamurg aramaiti sana-sana la kio!!

My1st song yg suda siap record will be released anytime soon. Supaya kamurg senang imagine mari sy kasi sinopsis dia. The story is about an asian vampire couple yg hidup selama2nya (and dorang pun actually suda live sama2 selama 200 tahun). So tau lakan walaupun vampire ada juga ups and downs, gaduh2 sikit, biasala couple. So dalam ni lagu ni vampire lelaki kasitau tu gf dia yg he will continue learn about this girl walaupun sampai forever. Cinta vampire la ni. Hahaha but actually when I wrote this song tedala sy terfikir about vampire cuma sy kasi sinopsis or metafore dia so hopefully kamurg ada sumtg to imagine when dgr this song. Manatau kamurg terimagine Twilight pun buli bah!!

Btw today and tommorow ada Battle Of The Band di Kundasang. Ejam Kamikaze, Bandi Amok and ada lagi yg lain dorg semua di Kundasang tu skg. Sy sini baru bgn di rumah Ranau skg. After ni baru p Kundasang, yg organize pun my uncles juga. Peserta dia pun from all around Sabah, last nite sy jumpa yg dari Tawau. I think from Sandakan pun ada. So sepa yg tinggal dekat2 tu mari kita pg Kundasang lepas ni kio!!

Kepada yg ada pg NAA ni pagi untung la kamurg sbb si DJ Othoe ada p sana tadi, kunun dia mo kasi surprise sy tp tau2 sini sy d Ranau sm family. So Othoe nextweek la ko dtg kio kita reunion hehe.

Hahaha!! Mengupdate blog dari Restoran Nasi Ayam Antarabangsa!! Sejak sy selalu di NAA ni mcm2 ragam org sy tgk. Ada customer yg peramah, yg kurang peramah, yg selalu datang sampai buli tau apa dorg mo order ^_^ Klu some classified info seperti ada couple yg makan dengan romantiknya, dan ada juga couple yg dtg makan tp x bercakap antara satu sama lain ni. Kita ni pun trip2 x mo tgk la tp wat to do tetap perasan juga hehe.

Byk juga yg sy study ni pasal run a restoran. Mmg bukan senang tp buli juga bah. Yg best juga sbb ramai kawan2 dtg. Bila sy tiada aktiviti or hal2 lain, if u wanna meet me you know where to go. Mana lagi kalau bukan Nasi Ayam Seluruh Dunia, hehehe... I mean Antarabangsa. Kpd yg selalu dtg tu, terima kasih byk2. Kpd yg bilang mo dtg tapi x pandai dtg2 tu bah apa lagi ^_^ Tidak susah mo cari ni tempat, if you know Indah Permai, my place ni seberang jalan jak - from UMS and 1B terus jak sampai jumpa traffic lite simpang 4. Turn to ur left, then nampak suda tu kawasan kedai di sebelah kiri. Pusing2 sampai jumpa Nasi Ayam Antarabangsa, besar kemungkinan kamurg jumpa sy la tu. So lepas ni sy mo pki smart2 la selalu haha.

Cuma sejak sy jaga restoran ni sy lupa plak yg dulu sy selalu jog, so oleh kerana skg sy sedar sudah balik makanya mo start jog la sudah ni. Bukan apa sy mo pastikan yg di restoran selalu cukup tenaga kerja bah ni. Sy can imagine kepenatan di restoran but once in a while if sy ada function or aktiviti di luar terpaksa juga sy kasi tinggal2. Best bah sini, staff pun lucu2.

New Song "AURAKU" by Richado and Alvin

I've been working in the studio with some of my friends lately. Recording duets and featured in friend's songs such as Caprice's "Losing Faith", Kay Kastum's "This is Kaamatan", Atama's "Miniagal oh Sinsing (Bakakuk Mix)" and "Thank You". My latest work together or duet is with my buddy Richado who is a singer, songwriter, saxophonist, event organizer, educator soon to be and mcm2 lagi la. The song is called "Auraku" and fully composed and written by Richado himself. We decided to work together on a song (and I believe there will be more to come), so after some text and calls Richado went all the way from Kota Marudu to KK with his mobile studio. We recorded this song in a hotel room somewhere in KK (Saya dgr Awie pun rekod his Iris album di hotel ^_^). Earlier that day I was at Peter Poninting's studio recording another song. So this Auraku song, sy baru 1st time dgr tu malam and kami pun terus rekod. We discuss a bit here and there on how we wanted it to sound.

Well I already have songs with Infinatez, duets with friends, so I think x lama lagi akan ada lagu yg sy nyanyi alone la ni...

Atama's New Ideology - BAKAKUK

Kamurang taukah yg Atama (Sabahan Hip Hop artist) suda release his new album BAKAKUK (which means "senapang patah")? It will hit the shelves tidak lama lagi but I suggest you guys go get it online. I got one for myself already time Kaamatan di KDCA and I'm so into the album, and his ideology. It has inspired me on what to do for my upcoming effort. The album also features Adolf, Carl, Gzell, Ivye Alexandra and yours truly (I did 2 songs with Atama in this album). Atama will be at Karamunsing this 27th June to launch his album, just wait for more updates in FB ^_^

A lot of happenings here and there and I'll be in KL soon too. But guys, seems like a lot of great things going on here in KK so...I was thinking of doing my things here. Still banyak yg perlu dinilai, diteliti dan dirancang but thats just how it is.

This time mmg lama la sy d Sabah. Tapi x juga terupdate this blog, bukan tiada internet connection ka apa, or bukan juga tiada masa, lebih kepada byk benda yg jadi sampai tidak tau which one yg mau dicerita or tidak. During my stay in Sabah, ada few things yg terjadi, ada benda yg happy and also benda yg tidak happy. Contoh happy ialah 2nd June yg lepas sy sekali lagi pg mendaki Kinabalu, this time with my kazens and dgn jayanya stamina sy kali ini lebih mantap berbanding pendakian Feb lepas. Yg tidak happy ialah setibanya di puncak kabus tebal, sejuk gila and dgn yakinnya hujan tiba2 turun. Time turun dari puncak tu boleh kata mmg sengsara jugala dgn sejuk dia, air hujan suda jadi mcm air terjun or sungai yg deras, jalan pulak jadi licin so mmg komando habis la time turun dari puncak ke Laban Rata. Tp syukur alhamdulillah kami semua selamat sampai juga ke bawah. InsyaAllah akan naik lagi, setakat ini sy belum serik or jara' lagi hehe.

I've also done some shows sementara ada di KK ni. Ada time di KDCA, Kundasang and also for Mr.Kaamatan. Kebetulan ada di tanah air so sy pun ambil peluang ^_^ I'll also be recording my new song here in KK. Sy akan gunakan khidmat Peter Poninting for this one. I'll also be working with other musicians and artistes in Sabah. Tapi dlm sy happy2 with perkembangan2 seperti ini, ada juga berlaku perkara2 yg tidak diingini di tempat yg lain. Perkara yg bagi sy di luar kawalan, and for now I'm not yet ready to reveal it. I mean not sure how to tell people about it, the best way to jelaskan kepada orang ramai. For now I'll just do apa yg sudah sy plan, and what I can do, hoping that it will turn out right and good.

Now that most of my urusan berlangsung di KK, when I have masa lapang (mcm byk juga masa lapang) I'll be at my uncle's restaurant yg dinamakan dgn glamernya "Nasi Ayam Antarabangsa", yg terletak di Sulaman Sentral berhadapan dgn Indah Permai aka IP, dan bersebelahan dgn Pasaraya Lintas (yg tidak terletak di Lintas). So klu kamurg mo dtg jumpa utk story2 sambil mkn nasi ayam do come to the restaurant ya.

See actually I got more stories to share but maybe for later, maybe lah. Owh ya go get Atama's new album BAKAKUK, sy nyanyi 2 songs in that album ^_^ You can also expect more collaborations in the nearest future, me myself pun excited sudah ni. And do vote for my friends Luscious in MUZIK2 TV3!!

No Pain No Gain

There is a video about David Goggins who runs to raise money for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, which helps families that lacked a father and a husband (from war). He joined so many marathons, including the Badwater Ultramarathon that is a 135-mile race from the floor of Death Valley to Whitney Portal. A marathon is 26.2 miles run equivalent to about 42km. I'll be very excited if I can run 10km, itu belum lagi marathon, fewh!! There's also a story in Runner's World about 3 guys who ran the Sahara Desert. BBKK mau buat betul2!!

Haruki Murakami (born January 12, 1949) is a Japanese writer and translator. His works of fiction and non-fiction have garnered him critical acclaim, and he is the sixth recipient of the Franz Kafka Prize for his novel Kafka on the Shore. He is considered by critics an important figure in postmodern literature and The Guardian praised him as one of the "world's greatest living novelists."

What I Talk About When I Talk About Running (one of his books) is a memoir by in which he writes about his interest and participation in long-distance running. Murakami started running in the early 1980s and since then has competed in over twenty marathons and even an ultramarathon.

The book's title was inspired by Raymond Carver's collection of short stories entitled What We Talk About When We Talk About Love.

Why do you run, when did you start?
I began running on an everyday basis after I became a writer. As being a writer requires sitting at a desk for hours a day, without getting some exercise you'd quickly get out of shape and gain weight, I figured. That was 22 years ago. I also took it as a chance to quit smoking. You see, I became rapidly healthier since the time I became a writer. You may call it rather a rare case. But because of that, I weigh now just as much as I weighed back then.

Before I became a writer, I was running a jazz bar in the center of Tokyo, which means that I worked in filthy air all the time late into the night. I was very excited when I started making a living out of my writing, and I decided, "I will live in nothing but an absolutely healthy way." Getting up at 5 a.m. every morning, doing some work first, then going off running. It was very refreshing for me.

I have always liked running, so it wasn't particularly difficult to make it a habit. All you need is a pair of running shoes and you can do it anywhere. It does not require anybody to do it with, and so I found the sport perfectly fits me as a person who tends to be independent and individualistic.

How much do you run? Do you do straight mileage or any speedwork?
My goal was always doing about 60K per week: 6 days a week, 10K a day on average. Some days I run more, some days less. It depends. If it is not before a race, I run at a moderate pace at which I feel easy and comfortable. If it's training for a race, I sometimes focus on speed. But otherwise I usually just try to enjoy myself at a casual pace.

I should add, though, that since I also enter triathlons these days, I have added biking and swimming to my workouts. As such, I am now running only 3 or 4 days a week.

You are moving to Boston soon and have run in Boston before. Where do you usually run in Boston?
I've run the Boston Marathon 6 times before. I think the best aspects of the marathon are the beautiful changes of the scenery along the route and the warmth of the people's support. I feel happier every time I enter this marathon.

As far as my experience goes, Boston is the most appealing marathon.

(Of course the New York City Marathon is also very exciting, but in a different way). The challenge is how to set your pace. It's tricky because there are many downhill slopes in the beginning part of the course, so I never know how fast I should go. No matter how many times I challenge the same course, there has never been a time I thought to myself "Yeah, that was the way to do it!"

However, no matter how challenging the race was, crossing the finish line at the Copley Plaza, going to Legal Sea Foods restaurant, eating steamed cherry stones and drinking Samuel Adams beer is one of the happiest moments of my life.

I used to run along the Charles River when I lived in the area before. I really like the course, though it can get really cold in the winter.

Where is your favorite run anywhere in the world, and why?
My favorite run anywhere in the world? I recall when I lived on a small island in Greece. Because I was the only jogger on that island there was inevitably someone who would call out, saying "Why are you running?", "Isn't that bad for your heath?" or "Don't you want to stop for a shot of Ouzo?" It was quite amusing.

I read that you ran every day while writing Kafka on the Shore. Do you work out plots and dialogue while running? How does running affect your writing?
I try not to think about anything special while running. As a matter of fact, I usually run with my mind empty. However, when I run empty-minded, something naturally and abruptly crawls in sometime. That might become an idea that can help me with my writing.

However, in general, I try to get my mind relaxed and rested while running by not thinking about anything. I run to cool down my nerves that get heated up while writing.

Do you listen to jazz or any other kind of music?
I normally listen to rock while running. I found that the simpler the rhythm, the better. For example, Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Mellencamp or The Beach Boys. I record this music on MD disks so I can listen to them with my Walkman on my run. There was this one time when I tried a 100K ultramarathon, I was tempted to listen to Mozart's Magic Flute from the beginning to the end, but I gave up on it in the middle of the course. It was exhausting. Since then I found opera not to be a good fit for running.

You have expressed interest in running the New York Marathon again. What was the experience of running New York like for you before? What were the best and worst parts of the New York race?
I've run the New York City Marathon 3 times so far. The great thing about the marathon is the fact that I can do sight seeing in that unique and gigantic city while running on my own two feet, taking all that time, to my heart's content.

On the course, there are truly amazing and diverse areas; each with its unique people and cultures--this scene and feel is only possible in New York. Also, I hit my best time in the New York City Marathon.

There is one problem with the marathon, though. You have to put up with the chill while waiting at the starting line, shivering, for a long time in the frigid breeze.

As someone who has run a marathon a year for over 20 years, will you continue to do so? How has the experience of running (in marathons and daily) changed for you over the years?
As long as possible, I would really like to complete one marathon per year. Though my time has been slowing down as I get older, it has become a very important part of my life.

One aspect that I have gained from running in the past 22 years that has most pleased me is that it has helped me develop respect about my own physical being.

I think to realize this is very important for all human beings.

To have such respect for your own body makes it possible to do the same for others. If more people on the earth shared this same feeling, there should be no terrorism or wars. Obviously, to our great disappointment, things are not that simple, that much I understand.

The most important qualities to be a fiction writer are probably imaginative ability, intelligence, and focus. But in order to maintain these qualities in a high and constant level, you must never neglect to keep up your physical strength.

Without a solid base of physical strength, you can't accomplish anything very intricate or demanding. That's my belief. If I did not keep running, I think my writing would be very different from what it is now.

Marathon in KL(June) & KK(October)

Just recently I got myself hooked to running. In order to a better stamina, health, lifestyle and physic, I jog and also do some not so heavy workouts at the gym. Sometimes go to swim. I was in a bookstore in Cineleisure Damansara last weekend and bought myself a magazine called RUNNER's World. I usually buy Men's Health magazine and am comfortable sticking with only it. Tapi I thought ok juga beli a mag about running so I could get more tips on how to optimize my running sessions. Turns out that it is actually a very good magazine. After reading it, and in my own conclusion, running pun rupanya ada falsafah. It is an awesome way to stay (or get) in shape, fit and healthy. I guess it is also the cheapest way.

I got more motivated after experiencing improvements. A leaner body (org lain cakap la ^_^), more energetic, I can run longer and I (tend to) eat more appropiately. To get in shape, diet alone is not enough, and workout alone is also not good enough. I'm still learning now, but whatever it is, each day I'll be a better me wlupun ambil masa yg lama or sampai bila2 ^_^

Ok sambung balik psl mag RUNNER's, I learned the lifesyle of runners yg selalu jog long distance, and how they challenge themselves by participating in marathons. Yes mmg dari dulu lagi I knew about marathon tapi tidakla tergerak hati mau join. But now mcm tiba2 ada wake up call pula. So when I read about these marathoners sy pun excited la utk join, ada byk sebab and kesan yg positif I thought. I also find running eases my mind, but anyway it is always great to have a healthy life.

Last two days I went to a recreational park in Tmn Tun with my cousin Benazir to jog a bit. She hasn't run for quite a long time but she conquered the peak of Kinabalu 3 times and she is only 19. But still, running is a different case. I salute her for wanting to jog with me that day and I know she is also on her way to a healthy lifestyle. The challenge for all of us is to be consistent. So sambil2 jogging tu I told her about me wanting to join a marathon, well in my case since it will be my first I don't think I'm going to do a full marathon which is 42km, but then I think it is karma when suddenly a girl in sportswear greeted us and asked if we would like to join KL marathon that will happen at 28th June. Excitedly I said a big "YES!!" ^_^ She was holding the entry form so I got myself one.

So that's how I got myself to participate KL marathon. I guess as a start I will do a 10K (10km). There will be another one in Shah Alam in August and in October in KK. I've done some research on the net and found out for the 10K Men Open category at Borneo International Marathon last year the fastest time was 40mins 26secs. Time limit is 1hour 30mins. So by 28th of June I hope I'll be fit enough to run in such pace. I also know that my friends in KK are doing their thing now and I'm feeling happy for that.

Now friends, lets get to work. BBKK!!

Men's Health

Today (Sunday) is rest day, also organize day for me. Baru balik from Kelantan yesterday for Sua Rasa TV9 with Infinatez. Our flight from KLIA was at 7am on Friday and the night before we had a gig at Laundry Bar. The show at Laundry was an OK show, wonderful crowd, and I guess not the best sound system we performed with. We did a recording for Sua Rasa concert, still tired at that time but I tried my best. I understand yg kami x cukup tidur and so but surely as performers we have to find a solution for that, if we are serious to be a singer and performer. Btw on the Sat we had a live appearance at TV9 for "Nasi Lemak Kopi O", siapa yg suka tgk or kebetulan tgk tu adalah nampak kami perform lagu Ada Masa live di TV.

Our flite back to KL was at 425pm, sampai jak KL sempat lagi jumpa my friends at KDCA KV punya Kaamatan celebration di PWTC. Thanx to all of you guys for helping out walaupun sy and Gurangak tiada di sana. It is always siok when dpt jumpa and hang out with you guys. Feels like home walaupun jauh dari kampung ^_^

Hmm, actually I got other things juga ni yg mau diblog and discuss such as how to lead a healthy life, CEWAH!!! Hahaha!! But seriously yes hal2 yg ada kaitan juga. Siapa yg selalu jumpa sy akan tau how I'm more into those kind of stuffs now. Sy betul2 mula tersedar bila time naik Kinabalu last Feb, my stamina not that good. Bayangkan time sampai di kawasan batu2 di atas Sayat2 Hut sy terpaksa gunakan teknik bernafas 5 kali yg deep, setiap 20 langkah. Walaupun sampai juga di puncak sebelum sunrise tapi dia punya penat ya ampun. Then time recording pun nafas x cukup panjang walaupun I don't smoke. So now I'm trying to live a better life la ni. I'll definitely find time to jog. Skg pun my pemakanan lebih terjaga sikit berbanding dulu. Kalau nasi tu jarang sudah sy mkn, if mkn pun time lunch jak. I drink a lot of water, sy pun hairan mula2 kenapa slalu org suruh minum air byk2 klu workout. Rupanya klu minum byk air ia juga berfungsi utk mengurangkan kandungan (or maybe kepekatan - ni sy punya tanggapan la) gula and kolesterol dlm badan. Tp sy bukanlah diet berabis juga, once in a while I'll still enjoy chocolates and ice creams. But now sy mmg cut carbonated drinks sbb it's high in sugar and also sbb gassy kan. Mcmn mo 6packs if x disiplin ^_^

Sy juga tau sudala sikit2 psl workouts utk bahagian2 tertentu badan kita. Bukan sy mo jadi ahli bina badan tp best juga if dpt kasi tone ni body so jadila lawa sikit mcm DBSK hehe ^_^ One thing yg sy belum sempat buat is main basketball mcm dulu2. So that will be my next aim, to play basketball at least twice a week. Good for body and mind. I believe with a healthy body kita akan have a better life and I'll also be more confident with my shows and performances. Alhamdulillah now I feel a lot better, jogging pun skg lama sikit and nyanyi nafas pun panjang berbanding dulu. So guys, klu bercerita sm sy jgn marah if my topik slalu pasal health jak kio!! ^_^

I'm at my home in Ranau now. 2 days in KK was great bcoz I got to meet my friends yg sy kenal thru KE, BBKK and others. I also got to meet fellow music activist in Sabah such as Ricado, Atama, Rueben Fingerstylo, Terry Peter, Jiaja, James (Guitar Hero), Benn S Bukag, Ateng, Ridah, Da'Prinz, Danny F Malinggi, Usal Jon Gavis, Ivye, Arthur from KK Bandwidth, Decipher, Roger Wang, Mia Palencia and many others (I bet most of you are not familiar with most of the names I mentioned, but they are well known in Sabah for what they do).

So far so good, it's a great trip back home. I'll be here in Ranau for a couple of days then I'll be back in KK to do what I got to do. Hahaha, I got friends mcm Lumis yg ckp I'm much leaner now, so tommorow sy akan jadi lagi semangat utk jogging utk meneruskan prestasi yg menampakkan hasil. Seriously if bukan sebab ada show and work in KL I might extend my stay in Sabah till end of May. Quite unfortunate that I can't do that. But there is plan to come back again for Kaamatan in May. So just to let you guys know my flight to KL is hari 4 nextweek.

I went to RAM Studio yesterday with Dechiper to meet Roger Wang and Mia Palencia for a possibilty to work together (with Infinatez). You'll get more updates about this collaboration soon ya ^_^

I also got a great news that I think is too good to be true. I really hope it would happen sbb I'm already really excited about it. But whatever it is, best dapat balik Sabah ni kali. I also got the chance to do what I always wanted to do, to explore my other potentials ^_^

We've got a long way to go, good thing that we do have a way.

Tu sambal yang tidak healthy saya punya

Azrul bilang tidak OK!!

To those yg stay alert with kawan2 punya status in FB should know yg sy skg akan go jogging if ada masa lapang petang2. Selalunya sy jog saturg jak di kawasan rumah di Kota Damansara, but today (Wed), sy ada kawan and kami jogging di err...Taman...alamak lupa the full name. Maybe Taman Rekreasi Lembah Kiara, it is at TTDI in Damansara. Actually Azrul terbaca my status in FB so dia pun bawa sy jog di TTDI tu. Bestla kalau ada kawan jogging. Lebih semangat. Not bad juga the place sebab the surrounding so green, sedap mata memandang. Yg best juga ialah Azrul also gave me some tips on diet and others. Oh ya, Azrul ni actually from the duo CHAM which was runner up for Raja Lawak 2 and now hosting Warong Kita. We became good friends sebab kami sama2 pegang watak paparazzi time PRamlee The Musical for both seasons.

Well okayla sbnrnya sy agak rajin jog and exercise now of course la sebab mo lebih sihat dan utk menjadikan masa lapang lebih berfaedah. Also supaya lebih steady ketika recording dan buat persembahan. Hmm...rasa bersalah pula bila tidak cakap perkara yg lagi satu ni, sebenarnya juga utk mendapatkan bentuk tubuh badan yg lebih hebat terutamanya di bahagian perut. Bikin panas bila nampak artis2 korea (ehem2), hollywood punya 6pax. Sudahla tadi ada sekumpulan pekerja kontrak main bola di parking lot sambil buka baju, apa lagi tenampak2 la dorg punya 6pax. So sy bertekad, lagipun bagus juga kan supaya kita rasa lebih confident dan handsome ^_^

Teda pulak pics kami jogging di atas, tu maksudnya kami ikhlas dan tidak mo menunjuk2. Selesai jogging kami minum2 di kedai mamak dan sy telah order benda2 yg tidak sepatutnya iaitu roti canai dan milo ping. Azrul order telur separuh masak and makan white egg dia jak, cayalah!! Saya silap order bah tu dan setelah minta nasihat si Azrul lain kali sy akan order makanan yg lebih berkhasiat sikit la. Demi 6pax sy ok jak ni. Lagipun bukanlah sy diet berabis. Cuma mesti mo ada pengawalan dalam pemakanan. Klu selalu bersenam body pun lebih ringan dan flexible. Otak pun clear dan lain kali kalau naik Gunung Kinabalu tidakla buat diri sengsara lagi.

Kami plan utk buat sesi jogging di taman tu sbg a weekly activity, maybe every Mon, Wed and Friday sekiranya free. Selagi ada time petang2 will still jog walaupun saturg but will find time to jog with friends every week. So if u guys wanna join, jom!! Klu ada kawan kita jadi lebih berdisiplin di samping can get and share useful tips.

This pic was taken in 1997 or 1998 mcm tu when I was in MRSM Kuching. Saya yg di tengah2 berdiri di bawah tu teda baju. My 1st time naik gunung Kinabalu (March 1999) was 10 years back and sy ada mention in my older post yg my 2nd trip (Feb 2009) was a different experience from my 1st. Of course la dulu sy dpt daki gunung Kinabalu secara selamba sebab time tu I got a FIGHT CLUB body!! Hahaha...perasan ^_^

Mom and my sisters are all in KL now. Last weekend was great coz I got to hangout with my cousins that are in KL. Tapi x best sebab I couldn't join them to Genting last Sat, ada show with INF that day. My cousin arif pula just got back from Sabah. He was born di UK, raised in Sabah, then moved to KL about 10 years ago. He just got back his Sabah tongue during his 1 month and 20 days stay in Sabah. Congrats!! Hehe...

Infinatez will be performing at The Laundry Bar on the 30th of April 09. I know it is still far away, but I gotta tell you early so you can reserve that nite. I guess we'll be singing some R&B Soul songs nanti ^_^

For the 2nd time in my life, I've reached Lows Peak of Mount Kinabalu. My first time was 10 years ago, to be accurate 17 March 1999. Tu time tgh tunggu result SPM and I went there with my fellow MRSM Kuching friends. This time sy smpi puncak 14 Feb 2009 ^_^.

Dlm my previous post, ada all the links to my friends blogs to read more about our trip ni. Klu suka baca entry yg agak detail and panjang can read si Nokurogia and Wel punya blog. Klu mo tgk pics byk yg ada mcm Gidong, Lumis & Kuai. Ada juga video kami poco2 di puncak dlm blog si Mamaii hehe.

Well now sy mo ceritakan perbezaan pengalaman both my trips to Mount Kinabalu. Seriously byk benda yg sy x ingat suda about my first trip. I can't seem to remember path dia, I simply hv no memory of the scenery sepanjang pendakian ke Laban Rata. Not to mention yg sampai puncak punya. What I can remember ialah 1st time sy naik gunung dulu mcm x penat. I think it's because time tu I was only 18 years old and I was quite an athlete and also it was my first time so mo challenge myself untuk sampai dulu di Laban Rata and puncak mendahului yang lain.

I also remembered a moment 10 years ago, saya ada berbual2 dgn pasangan suami isteri di pondok layang-layang and saya rasa perjalanan sy dari Timpohon (gate masuk ke Laban Rata from Kinabalu Park) ke pondok tersebut tidak mengambil masa yang lama and I think saya tidak penat pun time tu. Tapi on my recent trip, time di layang-layang saya penat sudah ni. Hahaha!! Oh ya one thing lagi yg sy tau telah melambatkan perjalanan kami ialah sebab kami byk take pics along the way. Klu campur semua camera beratus2 pics jugalah otw tu. Klu 10 years ago before zaman digital camera, pakai filem punya so maybe buli la dpt 100pics keseluruhan if bawa 3 roll filem. Nowadays mo amik sampai 1000pics pun tiada masalah ^_^

Well ok la, although sy rasa penat sewaktu perjalanan dari Timpohon to Laban Rata but I was still okay. Two things yang sy rasa perlu utk dimantapkan before sy mo naik lagi lain kali ialah my stamina and also my legs. This is very important sebab klu kita byk habis tenaga by the time kita sampai Laban Rata, mcmn kita mau mengharungi kepenatan and kesejukan ke puncak 2am nanti?? Damn!!

Saya x cerita detail pula kan pasal perjalanan dari Timpohon ke Laban Rata? Tidak payah la kan? ^_^

Pagi tu sebelum memulakan pendakian dari Timpohon kami punya breakfast tidaklah boleh dikategorikan sebagai cara pemakanan utk pendakian haha. Sebab sy rasa x cukup zat ni. Ko la ni Wel x kasi bgn p breakfast d restoran. So sebab tu la bila kami sampai Laban Rata (if you read Nokurogia's blog I was in the moderate team), kami lapar tahap "akhli porenges". Time tu x kisahlah mee guring basah kuyup ka, mee guring kering kontang ka, mee sup yg penting sup laaaa ka kami akan tetap makan. Mmg lapar berabis la ni. Coklat2 and energy bar sepanjang perjalanan tidak cukup. Di Laban Rata ada restoran yg ada buffet and ala carte. Bercadang juga kami mkn buffet tp harga dia aduhai mahalnya so kami beralih ke makanan ala carte. Price dia still buli tahan mahal but buli consider sebab atas gunung baini!! Yg best dia kami order nasi goreng, nasi dia byk ni, so makanlah kami hingga kenyang. Ada juga kami bawa bekal maggi and sardin ^_^ - saja mo kasitau info tambahan if you guys ada rasa mo makan ABC di Laban Rata jgn tanya tu waiter or kaunter k, nanti kena ketawa.

Ha lupa sy mo kasitau yg antara kami 15 org yg naik ni sy paling berat beg woo. Berat beg yg sy angkat dari Timpohon ke Laban Rata ialah 9kg. Ditambah pula badan sy yg tidaklah terlalu besar ni kira 9kg tu buli tahan jugala kan? Mmg sy sengaja mo angkat tu beg walaupun sebenarnya buli kasi porter angkat but sy mo uji la kunun ketahanan sy ni ^_^. Mula2 tu bangga and kagum jugalah dgn diri sendiri (tapi tidak obses ah), sekali bila sy nampak tu porter angkat 3 beg, sy rasa mcm my 9kg tu tiada apa-apa. Sepanjang perjalanan turun naik gunung tu kita akan nampak porter2 yg angkat barang2 makanan and keperluan ke Laban Rata dan mungkin ke tempat2 lain di atas gunung. Yang buli bikin takajut is bila nampak dorg angkat tong gas yang mcm kita bikin masak d rumah. TONG GAS baitu!!! Sy mo angkat tong gas tu pun separuh mati dari kereta masuk rumah, ni dorg angkat naik ke Laban Rata sejauh 6km, bukan jalan rata ah, dgn tong gas yg sy percaya dlm 30kg, WOW!! Sy mmg salute berabis la sama dorg ni. Klu mo tau bukan lelaki jak yg jadi porter ni, perempuan pun ada owh. Tp dlm perjalanan tu sy tiada nampak perempuan yg angkat tong gas la, but still apa yg dorg angkat still berat juga.

Ok sy skip dulu cerita pasal perjalanan dari Laban Rata ke puncak k. I still want to amaze you guys dgn memalukan diri sendiri dan rakan2. Ketika sy dan beberapa rakan dlm perjalanan turun dari Laban Rata ke Timpohon (ni cerita keesokan harinya la), kami berselisih dgn dua org porter perempuan/wanita (dgn angkutan yg buli kira berat di belakang) yang dlm perjalanan naik ke Laban Rata, I can't really remember the exact time tp kira kami belum berapa jauh from Laban Rata. Kamurg buli agak my story ka ni? Ok anyway, dlm perjalanan kami yg memenatkan dan menyakitkan kaki utk turun ke Timpohon, sy rasa maybe ada dlm 1.5km lebih lagi utk sampai ke Timpohon, tiba2 dua org porter wanita yg kami nampak di atas tadi dgn selamba sambil bergossip memintas kami dengan raut wajah yg langsung tidak rasa bersalah. Pada ketika sy menaip ni sy rasa menyesal kerana tidak bagi dorg baca "Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus", sy harap dorg akan lebih memahami isi hati lelaki iaitu jgn tunjuk kuat depan lelaki. Kuai was with us that time, dia maybe tidak rasa apa2 sebab dia pun girl juga. Time ni ada sy, Gidong, Gurangak, Danjoe and Kuai. Di depan kami yg turun lebih awal ialah Mamaii, Wel and TomKurus. Di belakang kami ada Sumpitz, Nokurogia, Bopp, Lumis, Zi and Pini with our guides. Kupi time ni ada cerita lain ^_^

Ok nanti sy akan cerita lagi pasal perjalanan kami dari Laban Rata to puncak. Time ni la sy dpt rasa kepenatan yg sy belum pernah rasa. Which I need. PASALL??!!

HINONGGO & Mount Kinabalu

I'm at Kundasang, Ranau, Sabah rite now. At my cousin's place. My rombongan naik gunung (tommorow!!) is now at Kinabalu Park. Tp saya jumpa my cousin jap utk pinjam baju tebal dia, x cukup tebal mine. Fuh..stamina...

OK actually I want to update about our new single HINONGGO. I went to meet DJ Selina Light tadi petang and gave her a few of our CDs. So...

Sabah fm is going to air the song straight away, exact time I'm not sure but I guess tonite. Sabah V fm will play it anytime soon and DJ Selina will update me on that. But do tune in to Selina's english segment tommorow at Sabah V fm from 11pm till 2am. She said she's gonna play HINONGGO.

For about 10 seconds sy kaku tadi. My eyes was staring at the monitor and my hands paused. As I was in my non-moving moments, I was thinking "Ok, write about this 10 seconds" (It was actually only 6-7secs). So there you go, an exaggerated story. But really, dlm 3-4 hari ni i'm a bit disturbed. With work and some other things. I haven't been reading much so far this year and those words from all the books I read last year keep coming to me, but most of the time I ignore them. Not purposely, but still I ignored them.

Now I guess it wasn't a bad idea at all to climb Mt.Kinabalu (this Friday!!). It is actually a good idea utk buat something different. To be exhausted, to be with friends, to be with family, to be free, to be young and to be on top -----> of the world.

I must not limit myself. I just have to do it. I can feel that I'm limiting myself, but that maybe a good thing. I mean to realize that I'm limiting myself so I will do something about it. Owh sanity please come back to me, I need you.

It's funny that as I'm typing now, I came to realize (again), that I need guidance. I need a mentor. And I'm now reminded of a song I wrote titled "Solace Of Mind". Yes what I need is solace, peace and yeah I need to be organized. I need to be organized now!! To clean up those untidyness, finish up the small-small undone works, to know what I need to do and complete next. Damn am I really that messed up??

Thank God I'll be taking a short break di Ranau this weekend. There are so many things/ideas in my mind right now, ideas for BBKK, for Infinatez and many many other things. Now I will need to put aside dulu those many many other things coz I think that may also be the reason yg sy x focus.

Organize yourself. Is that the keyword? Tadi I thought that I will feel more relieved, tiba2 ada tersumbat pula ni otak. Ok I think I know why, no no...it's not just that, ada byk lagi sebab. Tarik nafas, hembus...tarik lagi then hembus.

I need to break that wall in front of me. I want to break it!! I've tried breaking it, now I just have to do it differently.

I'm not done yet, I will be back.

INFINATEZ proudly presents HINONGGO (Feb 2009)

I am very2 excited to announce that we (Infinatez) will be releasing our new single this very month!! Our new song is a special Sabah release and Sabah V fm will be the first to play it on air. The title of this new song is "Hinonggo" which is the KadazanDusun word for "Where" or "Di Mana". When exactly will it be premiered on Sabah radio you ask? Don't worry, we'll update you very2 soon. Keep visiting this site ^_^

Infinatez's acapella rendition of "Sayang Kinabalu" was our first step to show our appreciation to our family, friends and fans in Sabah. This time we go deeper by singing a new song that is entirely in KadazanDusun language. Now what about that? ^_^ Hinonggo is a ballad soul song. Originally written by our talented friend Reuben Raymond aka Fingerstylo. Music arranged by the brilliant Rafik of Rafikoncept which is the same person who arranged "Ada Masa".

I'm not gonna write a lot about the song itself, but all I can say is we've put a lot of effort in it. Maybe it is safe to say that you never heard a KadazanDusun song like this. Many of you may not understand the lyrics, but we hope you can enjoy it as much as you enjoy listening to Japanese, Filipino, Spanish and Korean songs etc. It may have some Boyz 2 Men sound(quoting Illegal and G from Platinum Studios), and at some point you might think that you're listening to a Japanese or a Filipino song, but at the end of the day, that is Infinatez you're listening to ^_^. The vocals and the harmonies, we hope you'll enjoy it.

Well, ckp banyak pun no use ^_^ Just listen to it this month!! Now Sabah, are you ready??

Kinabalu, Hinonggo & Era FM

Ahh!! It's raining heavily outside. Baru ingat mo jog or swim. Perlu ada persediaan stamina yang mantap ni sebelum naik gunung next month. It's a bit hard juggling with so many things, so I need a break. Singing, writing songs and brainstorming for new projects, designing and marketing for BBKK and I still design graphics and websites. Too many things going on I'm starting to hilang focus. And I really need to finish up this one undone website before balik kampung next month.

Well at least I can be happy about 1 thing, Infinatez sudah habis record our next single "Hinonggo" and we are planning to release it by next month, hopefully. We'll mix it this weekend at Platinum. This song is fully in Dusun (one of Sabah's native language) and each of us has a solo part in this song. I have to say this is another song with effort and soul from us to be honest. Compared to "Ada Masa", "Paparazzi" & "Sayang Kinabalu", in this song we get to show more of our vocal abilities. If you're wondering and asking how my brothers in Infinatez sounds singing in KadazanDusun, then my answer is "not bad at all". But of course you can only believe it selepas sudah dgr ^_^ And yes definitely, this song is a present to our family, friends and loyal fans in Sabah.

A lot of work in order to promote our song ni nanti. Sy mo kasitau juga ni this Saturday @ 9am and Sunday @ 2pm(repeat) dengar2lah radio Era FM. Infinatez jadi DJ for an hour for segmen Artis Terkini. Kami cerita latar belakang Infinatez, cerita about our songs and also about Hinonggo. Klu mo dgr sy ckp Sabah in national radio and dorg yg lain2 pun try mo ckp, dengarlah Era this weekend!! ^_^

Was at Kay's place last Sat nite. Catching up with Sabahan friends in KL, playing cards, eating, drinking and jamming. It was a great nite and we need things like this sumtimes to feel the vibe of being in the comfort of home (Sabah). Byk lagu ni yg kami jam, and I came to realize that my fellow friends ramai yg talented ni. Not that it surprised me, tp ni benda telah membuka minda sy. So nantikan lagi another effort by us yg rasanya can do some good in promoting our talents in Sabah. Rite now tgk2 la ni video of my friends Regina and Leo singing "Lucky" originally by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat. Will make them do the full version of it soon. ^_^

10 years in KL & Live Music

A great nite it was for Momogun Dinner last Sunday. It always feels good to perform with friends infront of new friends and old friends ^_^ There are some technical errors that nite time Infinatez punya performance. Things like this happens but it can actually be prevented. Hope we learn from mistakes. But overall it is still a good show and I can see people enjoying our performance that nite. Like I said during the show, walaupun Borneo is like at the other side mo naik kapal terbang lagi utk jumpa our family but we still have us here in the Peninsular. But saying that, I am also blessed that I have not only Sabahan and Sarawakian friends here (duh!!), but also friends yg I never knew I'll be friends with but now are like family to me. Dude I've been in KL for 10 years already. Since 1999. I know ada org yg tgl di Aussie or US or other places lagi lama than my stay in KL, but still for that period I can spend more time with my beloved family in Sabah. Instead I chose to cari makan and pengalaman in KL. And I'm not planning to not to travel even futher.

Ok btw, after Momogun Dinner I went to a "place" in PJ ^_^ to enjoy live music. Thanx Kay for bringing us there. I'm preety sure yg Leo, Tata and Andy pun puas hati with the live band that nite. The band was awesome haha!! My 10 years in KL was a journey. Now I'm more focus in what I really want to do. "Bersinar-sinar". Hahahaha!!! (Inside joke)

Pop Song, Laundry & Momogun

I just came back from VIMA, an award by Voize for Malaysian independant artistes. The good news is "Ada Masa" got 2nd place for category "Best Pop Song". 1st place - Estrella (Stay) & 3rd place - Luscious (Khabarkan). There's a funny story about receiving the award but I think it's better klu story depan2, not here di blog. But anyway it was also nice to catch up with other independant acts. I also met my childhood friend Jewin, he's the bassist for rock band PAKU. I keep telling all of my friends that he was the one that had triggered me to start playing the guitar, indirectly. Ok I'll make some time utk story. When I was in form 1 in SMK Mat Salleh Ranau, I joined the school choir. Jewin was the guitarist for the choir and each time we have a break the girls will go to him and say "Jewin, main ni lagu" or "Siok oh ko main gitar". This suasana yg bikin panas hanya diperhatikan oleh sy and my friend Denver dari kejauhan. So dari sanalah kami start main gitar dgn penuh keazaman. Hahaha!! And I'm glad, sbb not long after that I got my first guitar as a present from my parents. Skg ni still ada di rumah Ranau tp not in a very good condition suda. Well I'm not really terer gila main gitar wlupun I've been playing it for like 15 years, but I will surely make myself improve in my guitar playing. Baru buli perform dgn lebih yakin.

Speaking of performing with the guitar, last Thursday punya show with Luscious at Laundry was a great one for me at least. We performed songs like "Slow Jam", "I'll Make Love To You", "Careless Whisper","When I Fall In Love", "Ada Masa", "Khabarkan" and some others. Ramai ni kwn2 yg dtg to support. We got our INF friends, Luscious punya family and friends and also my Sabahan & Sarawakian peeps. Also my buddies yg lama ni x jumpa. Thanx a lot guys for coming. Really totally appreciate it!! Sebab kamurg punya support and cheers la yg bikin sy mo perform my best. Thanx also to Luscious for having me to perform with them. To those yg x berkesempatan tgk the show my friend Lynn ada amik video sikit2 and I'll let u know bila dia sudah upload d net ya. Owh ya Luscious punya EP is now available, ada four tracks and it's only RM10 each. I already got myself 1 tp belum minta autograph lagi.

Bisuk Infinatez will be performing for Momogun KL punya dinner. Also already made plans for nextweek and nextmonth. Haa..I'm also very looking forward for my Feb activities. It's gonna be fun. February is also the month of LOVE. January is also so far so good ^_^

We'll be receiving new stocks for BBKK nextweek, so kepada yg order tu we'll make sure you'll get ur BBKK ya!!

Got Time To Blog

Waaa!!! Finally I got to rest today. After a week yg I can say was tiring. Bangun awal pagi for rehearsals, then with shows, practice and jamming sessions. Berkejar ke sana ke mari, fewh. Mcm last Thursday we needed to be in 3 places in one day, I'm not complaining sebab it was actually fun to do haha. Believe it or not I slept more than 13 hours from last nite. Okay la maybe it's not that unusual for some people tp tulah I must be very exhausted sampai tidur begitu lama. Luckily today I'm a bit free, adalah some things to do but I can handle it. For the last 2 days Infinatez performed d PWTC for Youth Malaysia 09. First for gua.com and 2nd for Youth 09 itself. I also performed solo for Doppelganger at the same event yesterday afternoon, lama suda x perform solo so I was damn nervous. I was okay during sound check but time betul2 show I was nervous gila and believe me sy x pernah nervous mcm tu. Too bad I couldn't perform my best. Maybe sebab terlalu biasa perform with Infinatez kan ^_^. No worries I'll always be with Infinatez, cuma yesterday tu I just wanna show a different side of myself.

So itulah dia, rehearse for Infinatez, the solo thingy and also with Luscious. Now in order to perform really well with the guitar I will practice everyday, yeah also mo praktis vokal.

BBKK is another thing. 2009 seems like a good year so we mustn't blow it off. We are hoping to show new colors by this month and Feb so wait for it ya!! Kalau ada yg kami belum send order tu don't worry sebab kami mmg akan send. We want you to have ur BBKK ^_^

Next week will be another busy week sebab Infinatez will be performing for Momogun dinner (I'm also an AJK for the event) so mo sediakan some good songs. On the 17th we'll be attending VIMA, an award for independent artist in Malaysia. On the 15th I'll be performing with Luscious. So we got a few days to rehearse. Life is fun and busy.

Alvin MY & Luscious - Cater To You (Jamming Session)

Come and watch us perform acoustic live this 15th of January at Laundry Bar (The Curve). Our slot will be from 930-1030pm only. We'll be performing some love tunes such as "Cater To You", "Slow Jam" and many others. It will be Luscious on the vocals and harmonies. I'll accompany them with the acoustic guitar and yes, there will be duet songs ^_^ No cover charge, just enjoy the drinks and food.

Up there is a video of a song that I co-wrote with a friend Najwa Mahiaddin. We wrote it in 2006. But on the singing side, it is made popular by Najwa. Of course it's not popular like POPULAR!! So ni la ni I want to share with u all. I bet ramai kita yg ada impian, and this song is called "Impian Terindah". Owh ya if u heard "Ada Masa", suara lady dlm tu is Najwa. If kamu pernah dgr lagu Malique "Kau Yang Punya", lady dlm tu pun suara Najwa. She's a great singer, songwriter and yeah she plays the piano. U guys can find her videos easily in youtube.
